The forthcoming project is funded under the European Union’s Equal Chances for Human Development (EC4HD) programme. Aim will be to strengthen national systems and improve integrated service delivery for young children (0–8 years) and adolescent girls across Zambia. The overall objective (Impact) to which this action contributes is to support the children of Zambia reaching their potential and to improve young female adolescent’s resilience and wellbeing by strengthening and enhancing the capacity of Government to provide and oversee equitable access to quality integrated services that target children and adolescents. Experts engaged in this assignment will be required to provide high-level technical support to the Government of Zambia—specifically the Ministry of Education (MoE), Ministry of Health (MoH), and the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS)—as well as collaborate with other line ministries and implementing partners (UNICEF, Marie Stopes Zambia, CARE Zambia).
The Key Expert 2, Early Childhood Development and Education Expert, will lead the ECDE portfolio, ensuring policy development, system strengthening, capacity building, curriculum support, multisectoral coordination, quality assurance, and data systems improvement within Zambia’s early childhood sector.
The expert will support development and implementation of regulatory and quality-assurance frameworks, costed multi-sectoral ECD implementation plans, and play-based pedagogy aligned with the revised curriculum. KE2 will lead on capacity building of ECE teachers and supervisors, contribute to the professionalisation and continuous development of the ECE workforce, and help improve data collection, monitoring and supervision of ECE services in the EC4HD target districts and at national level, in close coordination with health and social welfare sectors.
