The MENA Energy and Clean Tech Facility will aim to strengthen the technical capacity of partner countries in the MENA region to design and implement policies and regulations that encourage private sector investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean tech.
The support of the MENA Energy and Clean Tech Facility is expected to consist of
1) specific technical support in areas identified jointly with partner countries through policy dialogue;
2) Triangular Cooperation such as the organisation of study tours or technical assistance exchanges to facilitate technical knowledge or policy transfer between countrie;
3) support dialogue through the organisation of conferences, seminars and workshops to exchange experiences and approaches and
4) support EU development cooperation projects through short-term demand-driven interventions.
Indicative responsibilities:
Translating policy and regulatory improvements into investable opportunities, by identifying financing barriers, analysing effects on finance costs, improving bankability conditions, and supporting tools and processes that facilitate private and EU business investment in renewable energy, EE and clean tech across the target region. Conduct investment barrier and cost-of-capital analysis, bankability screening, investor engagement strategy, structuring of project pipeline support tools, mapping financing instruments, coordination with DFIs/IFIs and development banks.
