The Water Supply & Wastewater Department is a multidisciplinary team of around 20 professionals, including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Project Administrators and Recruiters. Working from headquarters and project locations worldwide, the team supports the entire project lifecycle, from business development and proposal preparation to the successful delivery of international water and wastewater infrastructure projects. As a member of the department, you will report directly to the Head of Department, who will support and guide your professional development.
Your tasks
As a
Project Manager, you will be responsible for the technical and administrative implementation of international water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will start your role as
Chief Resident Engineer for construction supervision of sewerage and potable water distribution network rehabilitation and expansion works in Tivat and Kotor,
Montenegro. The assignment will last approximately
30 months, with around
20–25 months on site. During the remaining period, and between other international assignments, you will be based at our
Head Office in Mannheim,
Germany. Afterwards, you will contribute to further international
projects in South-Eastern Europe, Turkey and worldwide.
- Project Delivery: Manage the successful implementation of projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, quality assurance, risk management and reporting.
- Team & Stakeholder Management: Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure close collaboration with clients, contractors, authorities, partners, technical experts and interdisciplinary teams across GKW Consult and the GFA GROUP.
- Technical Expertise: Prepare technical reports and project documentation, ensuring high-quality deliverables throughout all project phases.
- Business Development: Support proposal preparation, pre-qualifications, expert recruitment and the acquisition of new international projects.
- Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to knowledge management, innovation and the onboarding and mentoring of junior colleagues.
Your profile
- Education: Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a comparable discipline.
- Professional Experience: At least 15 years of professional experience in international development cooperation, consulting and/or infrastructure projects.
- Technical Expertise: Proven expertise in the water and sanitation sector, with a focus on municipal wastewater infrastructure projects (i.e treatment plants, wastewater collection networks) incl. site supervision with experience in OHS, contracts & claims management, QAQC.
- International Experience: Experience working with national or local partner organizations and on international projects, preferably in Europe and Turkey.
- Donor Knowledge: Good knowledge of donor procedures, ideally for EU-funded and other IFI-financed projects.
- Languages: Excellent written and spoken English; additional language skills (e.g. French, Spanish or Turkish) are an asset.
- Digital Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and confident in working with databases.
- AI Literacy: Digital affinity and confidence in using modern AI-powered tools to enhance productivity and collaboration.
